Project Manager / Team Leader
Egypt for German Technical Cooperation Programme
RODECO Consulting GmbH – a subsidiary of GOPA Worldwide Consultants - is a German consulting company implementing donor funded water sector institutional development and engineering projects worldwide. For an ongoing German Technical Cooperation (GTZ) programme for “Decentralised Wastewater Management in the Governorate of Kafr El Sheikh, Egypt” we are soliciting applications for the position of the Project Manager / Team Leader. The Team Leader is supported by two national long-term experts in community mobilisation.
Key tasks:
• Manage and supervise the planning, design, implementation and monitoring of pilot schemes for community-based wastewater management in cooperation with the communities and the private sector, incl. advice on O&M and financial management
• Build up the capacity of Kafr El Sheikh Water Supply and Sewerage Company to design and implement community-based wastewater schemes in Kafr El Sheikh Governorate and to monitor their operation
• Exchange experience (in close cooperation with the GTZ-managed water sector programme) with Egyptian water sector institutions and other donor funded projects (in particular the World Bank’s ISSIP)
• Promote the project approach and results and seek financing for additional villages/systems
• Documentation of lessons learnt, best practices, etc.
• Results-based monitoring of the project
Your profile:
• University degree in civil engineering
• Senior Expert with minimum of 10 years of professional experience
• Working Experience in development cooperation in the following fields:
- Water and wastewater engineering preferably in a rural or semi-urban context (design, tendering, supervision)
- Management and operation of small-scale wastewater systems
- Capacity building of water utilities
- Community mobilisation & involvement
- Results-based monitoring
• Proven project management skills
• Proven leadership skills and ability to lead multidisciplinary and multinational teams
• Good understanding of financial and economic aspects
• Excellent English skills
• Strong reporting, communication and networking skills
• Experience in Egypt or other countries in Northern Africa or the Middle East
• Knowledge of GTZ procedures would be an asset
